Troubleshooting Store Locator Issues

If you can't see the store locations and map on your website after adding them, there are a few common causes and solutions: Issues often arise following platform updates or changes to the Store Locator app.

  • Make sure you have clicked "Publish to Shop" after adding any location. If you skip this step, the locations will not appear on the frontend.

  • Check that the app embed for the store locator is turned on in your Shopify theme settings. Go to your theme's settings, find the app embed section, and ensure the store locator app embed is enabled. If it was turned off (possibly due to recent app updates), turning it back on should make the map show again. Follow these additional steps: open your theme editor, locate the Store Locator app embed feature, and ensure it is turned on. After saving your settings, reload the page to verify if the map appears.

  • Google Maps, ensure that billing is enabled in your Google Cloud project. Without billing, the API will block requests and the map and locations will not display. You can enable billing at: https://console.cloud.google.com/project/_/billing/enable. Google provides $200 in free credits each month, which is usually sufficient for store locators. Additionally, confirm that your payment method is active and valid, and update any expired card information. Refresh the site after making these changes to apply them.

Following these steps should resolve most issues with store locations and maps not appearing. To further avoid disruptions, regularly review app and platform settings after updates, monitor release notes, and consider testing in a staging environment before implementing major updates.
