RP ProPickup: Ignore Shipping Step
What this feature does
**Ignore Shipping Step** lets pickup customers bypass Shopify's Shipping page.
After the customer selects a pickup location and any required pickup date or time,
RP ProPickup sends the customer directly to the Payment page.
When this feature is enabled, RP ProPickup creates a Shopify Draft Order and redirects the customer to the Draft Order's checkout link.
Seeing a Draft Order in Shopify Admin is therefore expected behavior for orders using this flow. RP ProPickup also automatically applies a **$0 pickup rate**, so the customer does not need to select or pay for a shipping rate.
## Important discount-code limitation
Enabling **Ignore Shipping Step** prevents customers from entering a Shopify
discount code during the normal checkout flow. Because the Shipping page is
skipped and RP ProPickup uses its Draft Order checkout flow, merchants that offer
discount codes must choose one of these options:
1. **Disable Ignore Shipping Step and create a pickup rate.** Customers will use
Shopify's normal checkout, where they can enter their discount code. See
[How to disable Ignore Shipping Step](#how-to-disable-ignore-shipping-step).
2. **Add a discount-code field to the cart.** Install the
so customers can enter the code before checkout. RP ProPickup will then deduct the discount amount when it creates the Draft Order checkout.
Test the selected discount solution with the store's active theme and discount
types before enabling the feature for customers.
## When to enable it
Consider enabling **Ignore Shipping Step** when:
- The store offers pickup and does not want customers to choose a shipping rate.
- Pickup customers should move directly from the cart to payment.
- The merchant understands that RP ProPickup will create a Shopify Draft Order for
the checkout.
- The store does not offer discount codes, or it has installed and tested a
compatible cart-page discount-code field.
- The store has tested discounts, taxes, inventory, payment methods, order
notifications, and other apps with Draft Order checkout.
- The pickup selector is available before checkout in the regular cart or a
supported cart drawer.
Test the complete purchase flow before enabling it on a live theme. Draft Order
checkout can behave differently from Shopify's normal cart checkout, especially
with discounts, subscriptions, upsell apps, accelerated payments, and other apps
that replace the checkout button.
## When not to enable it
Leave **Ignore Shipping Step** disabled when:
- The store should use Shopify's normal checkout and create normal orders.
- Customers need to enter Shopify discount codes during checkout and the store
does not use a compatible cart-page discount-code field.
- Shopify shipping rates or delivery options must be shown.
- Another app already creates Draft Orders or replaces the checkout button.
- The store relies on checkout behavior that has not been tested with Draft
Orders.
- Customers can bypass the cart using product-page **Buy Now** or dynamic checkout
buttons before selecting a pickup location and date.
- The pickup widget does not consistently appear in the store's cart drawer.
For stores that require pickup details, customers should visit a cart page or
supported cart drawer before checkout. Product-page checkout buttons that skip the
cart can prevent RP ProPickup from collecting the pickup location, date, and time.
## How to enable Ignore Shipping Step
1. Open **RP ProPickup** in Shopify Admin.
2. Go to **Settings**.
3. Select **For Developers**.
4. Turn on **Enable development mode** to reveal **Advanced for Developer**.
5. Open **Advanced for Developer**.
6. Find **Ignore Shipping Step**.
7. Turn the setting on.
8. Save and publish the settings.
9. Place a test pickup order.
Confirm during testing that:
- The pickup location and required date/time can be selected before checkout.
- The Shipping page is skipped.
- The customer reaches the Payment page.
- RP ProPickup applies a $0 pickup rate.
- A Draft Order is created in Shopify Admin.
- If discount codes are offered, the cart-page discount field applies the expected
discount to the Draft Order.
- Taxes, payment, inventory, and notifications work as expected.
## How to disable Ignore Shipping Step
Before disabling the feature, configure a default pickup shipping rate in Shopify.
Without a valid pickup rate, customers may be unable to continue through Shopify's
normal Shipping page.
Follow the pickup-rate instructions in the
[RP ProPickup Help Center](https://help.roseperl.com/), and then:
7. Turn the setting off.
8. Save and publish the settings.
9. Place a test pickup order.
Confirm that the test order now follows Shopify's normal checkout, displays the
expected pickup shipping rate, and creates a normal Shopify order instead of an RP
ProPickup Draft Order. Also confirm that the Shopify discount-code field appears and
accepts the store's supported discounts.
## Troubleshooting
### Draft Orders still appear after the feature is disabled
Check the Shopify order or Draft Order timeline to identify which app created it.
Other possible sources include:
- RP ProPickup Cash on Delivery or deposit functionality.
- A third-party discount, bundle, subscription, or upsell app.
- A Draft Order app.
- A custom cart or checkout-button integration.
If the timeline attributes the Draft Order to another app, disabling **Ignore
Shipping Step** will not disable that app's Draft Order flow.
### Pickup information is missing
Confirm that the customer selected the pickup location and required date/time in
the regular cart or supported cart drawer before checkout. Product-page **Buy Now**,
Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other dynamic checkout buttons can skip the
cart selection step when displayed before the cart.
Also confirm that the pickup widget loads every time the cart drawer opens. If it
does not, contact support with the store domain, theme name, affected order number,
checkout path, and screenshots of the cart.
### Checkout cannot continue after disabling the feature
Verify that the store has a valid pickup rate available for the customer's order
and shipping profile. Review the pickup-rate setup in the
[RP Help Center](https://help.roseperl.com/) and repeat the test.
### Customers cannot enter a discount code
This is an expected limitation when **Ignore Shipping Step** uses the RP ProPickup
Draft Order checkout flow. Either:
- disable **Ignore Shipping Step**, configure a pickup rate, and use Shopify's
normal checkout; or
- install and configure the
so the discount is entered in the cart before RP ProPickup creates the Draft Order.
Always test the actual discount types used by the store. If a discount is not
deducted correctly, disable **Ignore Shipping Step** until Support has reviewed the
cart, discount app, and Draft Order behavior.
