Why does the Store Locator show an unfamiliar URL in settings, and which URL should I use?
When using the Store Locator feature, you may notice that the URL displayed in the app settings is not the same as the one your customers see. This article explains the difference between the internal Shopify URL and the public-facing Store Locator URL, and clarifies which one you should use and share.
Understanding the Store Locator URLs
Internal Shopify URL
The URL displayed in the Store Locator settings is an internal Shopify URL. This URL is used for backend purposes and may look something like [STORE].myshopify.com/pages/store-locator. It is not visible to your customers and does not need to be shared publicly. You can safely ignore this URL in the settings.
Public-Facing Store Locator URL
The public-facing URL is the one that your customers will see and use to access your Store Locator page. This URL is based on your live storefront domain and typically looks like https://[PRIMARY_DOMAIN]/pages/store-locator. This is the URL you should verify, use, and share with your customers.
Which URL Should You Use?
Always use and share the public-facing Store Locator URL. This ensures that your customers are directed to the correct page on your live storefront. The internal Shopify URL shown in the settings is for administrative purposes only and does not impact the customer experience. By understanding the difference between these URLs, you can confidently manage your Store Locator settings and provide the correct link to your customers.
