Manage Locations and Blackout Dates

This article helps you keep locations, schedules, and unavailable dates up to

This article helps you keep locations, schedules, and unavailable dates up to date.

What this helps you do

Add, edit, archive, or restore locations and block dates when delivery or pickup should not be offered.

Prerequisites

  • The app is installed

  • You have existing locations in the app

Instructions

  1. Open Shopify admin → Apps → RP Local Delivery Date.

  2. Go to Locations.

  3. Select the location name you want to update.

  4. Change the details you need:

    • address

    • service type

    • schedule

    • product availability

    • delivery settings

  5. In the location's Delivery or Pickup card, select Manage, then
scroll to Blackout dates. The section says Specify dates for which
    delivery/pickup will not be available
    .

  6. Select Choose date. In the calendar, select one date or a start and end
date for a range, then select Add. Past dates cannot be selected.

  7. Confirm the date or range appears as a tag below the picker. When no dates
are configured, the section displays No dates selected.

  8. To remove a blackout, remove its date tag. Select Save in the contextual
save bar after adding or removing dates.

  9. Test checkout and confirm each blocked day appears in Restricted dates
with the reason Blackout date. Selecting it should display a warning and
should not retain or confirm the date.

  10. To take a location out of service, open it and click Archive location,
then confirm Archive. Archived locations are hidden from customer
pickers and can be restored later with Restore location.

Locations list with status, method, Location ID, and Profile ID columns

Use Status and Method above the table to narrow the list. The IDs serve
different purposes:

  • Location ID belongs to the address record.

  • Profile ID belongs to the Delivery or Pickup configuration on the same
row. Read the profile number horizontally beside its matching method badge.

When troubleshooting an order, verify both values. Matching only the Location
ID is insufficient because slot capacity and schedules are joined by Profile
ID.

Expected result

Your location list and blocked dates reflect your current operations. Checkout
identifies blackout dates before selection and explains that they cannot be
confirmed.

Troubleshooting notes

  • If a blocked date still appears, confirm the correct profile was saved and test again in a fresh browser session.

  • If a multi-day range is configured, test its first day, last day, and one day
    between them.

  • If a date is listed twice during editing, the picker keeps only one identical
    range.

  • If an archived location still appears on the storefront, refresh the storefront and confirm you archived the intended location.

  • If holiday rules are complex, update them well before busy periods.

Important warnings or limitations

Warning: Archiving or changing a live location can immediately affect what customers can book.

  • Schedule updates should be tested before high-volume dates, such as holidays or launches.

  • Blackouts belong to an individual Delivery or Pickup profile. Adding a
blackout to one method or location does not automatically add it to every
other profile unless you intentionally use the profile-copy option.
