This article helps you control where customers can request local delivery.
What this helps you do
Limit delivery by radius, by postal or ZIP code, or by map area, depending on your workflow.
Prerequisites
The app is installed
At least one location exists
Local delivery is enabled for that location
Instructions
Open Shopify admin → Apps → RP Local Delivery Date.
Go to Locations, edit the location, and open its Delivery profile.
In Delivery areas, use Change in settings if you need to switch between ZIP-code and full-address validation.
Choose your delivery restriction method:
radius distance
postal or ZIP code
an area drawn on the map
If you choose radius:
Configure the Google Maps API key in Settings → Integrations if the app requests it.
Enter the maximum distance customers can be from the location.
If you choose postal or ZIP code:
Select By zip code for shopper address validation.
Return to the location's Delivery profile.
Add a delivery area and enter its allowed postal or ZIP codes.
If you choose map area:
Select By full address - Max radius, Draw your own for shopper address validation.
Return to the location's Delivery profile and select Draw your own.
Add the boundary in the map editor, then save the profile.
Save the settings.
Test with:
one address inside the area
one address outside the area
The Delivery areas section belongs to the selected Delivery profile. Verify
the location in the profile selector before adding or editing an area:
If a location supports both Delivery and Pickup, only its Delivery profile uses
delivery-area validation. Pickup availability is controlled by the Pickup
profile and schedule instead.
The product-based Delivery fee (legacy) control remains available for
existing area-fee configurations. Dynamic Pricing is the preferred fee method
for all scheduling models. A legacy area fee is used only when the profile has
no Dynamic Pricing rules, preventing duplicate charges during migration.
Expected result
Customers in allowed areas can request delivery, and customers outside the allowed areas are blocked from doing so.
Troubleshooting notes
If all addresses are blocked, check the location address and the restriction settings.
If radius rules do not work, review whether the required map or Google API setup is enabled.
If postal-code rules do not work, check formatting and spacing in the code list.
Important warnings or limitations
Warning: Incorrect delivery-area settings can block valid customers or allow unsupported orders.
Test at least one valid and one invalid address before going live.
Full-address validation requires a working Google Maps configuration.
