This article helps you charge a delivery fee for local

This article helps you charge a delivery fee for local delivery.

What this helps you do

Set delivery fees and optional pricing adjustments for a location.

Prerequisites

  • The app is installed

  • Local delivery is enabled

  • At least one delivery area is configured

  • You know your fee rules

  • Checkout delivery validation and Dynamic Pricing 2.0 are enabled under
Settings → General → Checkout risk controls

  • An app plan is selected under Settings → Billing

Instructions

  1. Open Shopify admin → Apps → RP Local Delivery Date.

  2. Go to Locations, select the location name, and select Manage under
    Delivery.

  3. Confirm the profile has an applicable delivery area, then scroll to Dynamic
    Pricing 2.0 rules
    .

  4. Select Add rule.

  5. In Add pricing rule, choose a Rule type:

    • Same-day surcharge

    • Weekend rates

    • Flat delivery fee

    • Rush-hour surcharge (Pro)

    • Per-time-slot surcharge (Pro)

  6. Enter a positive Surcharge amount. For rush-hour pricing, also choose the
weekdays and valid start and end times for each window. Windows cannot
    overlap or cross midnight.

  7. Select Save in the rule dialog, then select Save in the profile's
    contextual save bar.

  8. Test carts that should and should not receive the charge. Test each applicable
date, day, time, or slot condition and confirm the final Shopify total.

Dynamic Pricing is the preferred fee method for all scheduling models.

Expected result

Customers see the correct delivery fee when they choose a valid local delivery option.

Troubleshooting notes

  • If no charge appears, confirm the customer selected this location and that the saved rule applies to the selected date, time, or slot.

  • If the wrong charge appears, review all rules saved on that location; applicable adjustments can be combined with the flat fee.

  • Confirm that the app's pricing product has not been deleted or made unavailable.

  • If the profile will not save, read the validation message and resolve the
unsupported eligibility, schedule, area, or plan condition rather than
    repeatedly adding the rule.

  • If Add rule no longer appears, check whether every rule type available to
the current plan is already configured. Use Edit or Remove rule on an
    existing entry as needed.

Important warnings or limitations

Warning: Incorrect delivery fees can affect checkout conversion and order profitability. Test with multiple cart values before going live.

  • Cart pricing is available on every Shopify plan. The optional picker inside checkout requires Shopify Plus.

  • Dynamic pricing cannot currently be combined with product restrictions,
minimum or maximum cart-total restrictions, preparation time, or cutoff time
on the same profile. Cart-total restrictions remain available for profiles
without Dynamic Pricing. Configured delivery areas may still determine
    address eligibility.

  • A schedule is timed when the time-slot indicator is active on at least one enabled day.

  • Flat, weekend, per-time-slot, and rush-hour pricing support timed schedules. Same-day pricing does not.

  • Paid time slots must be booked at least one day ahead.

  • Rush-hour windows use the selected slot's start time in the shop timezone;
the window start is included and the end is excluded.

  • Only one rule of each type can be configured on a profile. A flat fee can be
added once together with other applicable adjustments.

  • The original product-based Delivery Area fee remains supported as a legacy feature when the profile has no Dynamic Pricing rules. If Dynamic Pricing is configured, the legacy fee is suppressed to prevent a duplicate charge.
